Bulgaria: Women’s liberties at an increased risk

The European Parliament called upon EU countries, including Bulgaria, to ratify the Istanbul Convention on March 12th. Only 1 MEP that is bulgarian was at the debate. In which he had been contrary to the treaty.

The Holy Synod and Grand Mufti, sa >women and domestic violence to parliament for ratification on the eve of International Women’s Day on the March 8th, the Bulgarian government, under pressure from political parties. In Bulgaria, A european union user since 2007, conservative politicians and clergymen continue steadily to influence the governmental agenda.

The Council of Europe Convention, referred to as Istanbul Convention, had been finalized in 2011 in Istanbul. Up to now, it’s been sustained by 45 user states associated with the Council of European countries and ratified in 28 nations, 17 of those being EU people. 続きを読む
